Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Determine and record plant habits, characteristics and significant features according to organisational requirements 
Seek advice from Cultural Authorities or supervisors when necessary and where appropriate in the recognition activity 
Survey site and record location of plants using maps and grid references 
Record cultural uses and significance of specified plants 
Document information about plants, and add to reference collection according to organisational requirements 
Update reference collection if new plants are recognised 
Record rare or endangered plant species in location if present 
Utilise appropriate disposal techniques for plant debris if specimen collection is necessary 
Apply environmentally sustainable practices for carrying out observation activities to minimise degradation and disturbance 
Record areas requiring restoration and re-establishment of culturally significant plants 
Follow workplace health and safety policies and procedures for carrying out survey activities 
Record the relationship between local foods, physical wellbeing and the land in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture 
Locate and gather information from a range of sources about access to bush foods 
Identify and record local plants using their common, scientific and cultural names 
Identify and record cultural uses of available bush resources for food and medicine 
Identify and record land management practices with respect to conservation of species 
Identify and record invasive flora and fauna species if present in survey area 
Report location of invasive flora and fauna species 
Develop strategies in partnership with local Community and organisations to support restoration and re-establishment of culturally significant plants 
Assist in the implementation of restoration and re-establishment strategies with local Community and organisations 
Work in partnership with local Community and organisations to monitor and evaluate strategies
